Norton/Cynthiana is Missouri's premier red grape.  The berry size is small with loose clusters.  Norton is very vigorous and fruit matures late.  Leaf/shoot thinning is required.  This year we will expect around 2 tons per acre.

 

The wine made from Norton is usually dry, has very soft tannins,  and an intense full body finish.

 

This is the ultimate variety for making dry wine in Missouri.
